Feedback is appreciated - let us know what you’d like to see.

UPDATE: Thanks for the feedback! Here’s what will be added in the next few days: spell hit rating, defense value, arena info, bug fixes. Talents and gem/enchant details will have to wait for next release.

As a Sacrificial Destruction Warlock, my spell hit rating is the most important to me and also to other classes, but is missing from the stats list. If you check out the Tier gear for a lock, spell hit rating is the first and foremost stat given. Great App even without otherwise and keep up the good work.

Just downloaded Characters 2.0, and it is an excellent app for the iphone - you guys have done a great job. The only area I noticed for improvement is on the items screen, gem slots always show empty, but it isn’t by any means a big deal. I occasionally have the program crash on me and boot me back to the home screen, but these crashes are far more rare with version 2.0.

Thanks for your effort - you’ve done a great job!

great app, tx. now i can compare my chars with the ones of my friens while i’m at work or at a party. would it be great if you build in a option to make a note with any char that mention the real name of my friends, i have so many chars in my list that i sometimes forget who is who. once again great app. cheer, sander.

Bug in UI of Characters 2.0…

After you do a search for a character name and get the list of all possible selections, you will not be able to select the last choice if the list is long enough to fill in behind the bottom menu.

Example: Try to select the character “Badblud” on the US server “Khadgar”. (For me, that is the bottom item in the list)

love the app, just one request please include spell hit in the stats.
    Keep up the good work

When I tried to update my app, i got a message that “The application “Characters” was not installed on “Sykogecko’s iPhone” because an unknown error occurred (0xE800002E).

Can you add Def rating to the Defense area? eg like pallys needing 490 to be Uncritable.

I’d just like to thank you for your time and effort for this fantastic little app. I love it.

Nice work. I could suggest a couple o improvements:

    - The “defense” statistic is missing from the defenses stats. This one is critical for level 70 tanks.
    - Enchantments and gems are missing from items.
    - This is more related to the sucky nature of iTunes, but the application loses all it’s preferences as soon as it is reinstalled. Unfortunately, because iTune is such a piece of… unreliable software, I have to reinstall it pretty much every time there is an update available. It would be nice to have a way to store the characters externally (maybe via email or a web-based service). That could also be used for exchanging character lists between users.

P.S. If you implement a synch system, I volonteer to write a Windows client.

Since version 1.0, my character will not update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice with no luck. Does anybody else have this problem.

I’m French Canadian, so being North American I play on a North American servers (ie the game is in English). My iPhone is set to French and all the character attributes and items name show up in French (ie Blood Elf is displayed as Elfe de Sang). This is so confusing as we are used to the English names. Is there any way to tell the app to ignore the phone’s locale and use US-English ?

Hi, I love the app. I’m hoping that you are already working on this, but I’d love it if my gear would light up for set bonuses too.

Also, I play a mage, and wear the wrath of spellfire set. The name of the set is “wrath of spellfire” but each piece is named separate, like “Spellfire belt” In the Characters app it shows all 3 pieces named Wrath of Spellfire.

    I play Sithayn on Spirestone.us

Great appli but is quite limited in some cases. I meam, if your char name has simbols on the letters like ï, â, etc… u cant find those chars cause iphone keyb does not let u write those down.

Is there a chance to work on this?

  14. Andyf | August 21, 2008 at 4:52 pm | Permalink

Great app. Just doesnt seem to like my troll. Cannot find it. Tried for two weeks after creation and it still not there. Is there a limit to the amount of alts a user can have on a server before it prevents an add or even the search.

Hi, thank you for making this nice app. It is now my favourite app. For improvment, may I suggest the Item Page. While I can see the item name alright (shown properly in TW Chinese), the item stat is not readable due to language encoding error. It’d be definitely great if it can me shown properly as well. Cheers mate.

    Great App!

    I have a couple of suggestions tho…

    1. The ability to “equipt” additional items and calculate the stats.
    2. Compare items to each other.
    3. Add the 3D character view from wowhead.com
    4. Add a button so you can send a armory link / Warcraft Character link to other iPhone users through email.

OH MAN!!! I love it!!! keep up the good work!

    One important thing with names:

I cant search for names that have the ¨ character in the name, for example Jhönhy, or Käin, if i type Kain, i dont see in the list the name Käin and i cant find it, im using a itouch and i cant type that character with the virtual keyboard…

Could u make a special character like * to search ALL characters in that position please?

  19. Loren Bray | August 24, 2008 at 3:12 am | Permalink

One of my characters is not coming up on the search. (I have many chars but one “Cjcregg”, Ravenholdt server, does not come up when I wearch for her.)

Would be nice if it also tracked what was in your inventory. (bags and bank)

Downloaded this app a week ago and gave it a whirl and must admit that I love it. Excellent job and look forward to any future updates that you plan on doing. As I have multiple characters I love being able to look them up without switching in-game to check on stats, rep, talents, gear, etc. Keep up the fantastic work!

Beautiful App! I do have a question though. When I search I can’t find my level 7 Orc Rogue on Ravenholdt. Do I need to be a certain level before I can add him to this program? Keep up the great work!

  25. Dejwik | August 26, 2008 at 9:39 am | Permalink

To developers: great app, good work guys. Only one think, when you add characters and they level up, the new level is not showed in the character list. But when you click on character, in the info is the right level.

for who don’t play in official server? there isn’t any chace of modify realmlist for who don’t play in official server, but in unofficial server? Thankyou. (sorry for my english, i’m italian.

  27. Daniel | August 27, 2008 at 12:54 pm | Permalink

Great app guys. Been using it since your first release. I have a suggestion though, the characters search results should really be sorted by Char Name and then Realm Name. It looks like they are only sorted by char name now and you have to scan the list to find the realm name you need.

Hey, I like the application and find it very useful, however I have one feature request. Could you add support for private servers? I play on a private server called WoWscape (a collection of private servers for people who will play WoW for a very short while or who can’t afford the monthly cost), and will gladly appreciate if you introduce this feature. If you’re worried about client-server connectivity, know the servers communicate the same as Blizzard’s and that WoWscape is 2.4.x-compatible (actually the only one at the moment), so the experience, both visually and technically should be the same.

    Again, thanks in advance,
    Smiley.

P.S.: If you decide to do so, please send me an email message at the email address provided so I could know. I don’t track comments on sites that don’t offer automatic following, as I don’t use sites to do so such as coComment.

  29. Smiley Barry | August 28, 2008 at 2:51 am | Permalink

    Correction:

Ah, I guess it isn’t the only one supporting 2.4.x. WoWFusion and Toxic WoW support that version too. Oh well.

Love the app! Use it everyday. One thought, is it possible to make an app that you can add any items to your toon to see what stats it would bring? Kind of like a dressing room, but still providing stats and stuff based on spec. I know this would be hard since there is a lot of gear, but anything is possible. Again great app!

  31. Tarnus | August 29, 2008 at 5:20 pm | Permalink

Hey, I see you are going to have Gem and Enchant info on next release, so my suggestion is already taken care of. I have been a user of this app since day 1 and love it! Great to see the progression you have made with it and keep up the great work!

Also wanted to point out that some items makes “…of Bandit” and the like are not showing up correctly.

  32. dichotomy | September 2, 2008 at 4:21 pm | Permalink

It would be great to be able to cache and label your character, for instances where a warrior or druid, etc, has multiple gear setups, you could cache and have all of your setups stored so you can switch between them on the fly.
Great app by the way, fast, efficient, easy. 5 stars.

    nice app :)
    suggestions:
    - in widescreenmode compare 2 chars - because to compare with friends char is so much fun when in the cafe :)
    - talent-tree
    - perhaps a kind of “atlas loot enhanced” for examing wich drops in which instance ;) a 2nd programm is think ;)
    - talentplaner for select single talents and see what damage it will end up

    It’s great app.
I found broken text in each item detail information - KR.
All KR text is okay except item’s description.
I guess that’s problem is encoding to Korean text code-set.
i hope this probelm will be fixed at next update~~ :)

All it needs now is talent point tree and Maybe talent calculator.

great app! My son wants to use it every time he grabs my phone. We have only one request, being able to see what the characters look like. The generic icons don’t look anything like the actual character. Thanks and great work. !

I added about 30 guild members to the app today and it is not letting me search for names anymore. Is there a maximum number of people that you can have in the app at one time? I wanted to use the app to keep track on my members professions so that I can update them on a regular basis in the guild notes.

I’d like to see a Language Selection option. I play WOW in English language because the German translation makes me puke - especially the item names. But my ipod touch is set to German. Apparently Characters uses the Country Settings to determine the language for item names - and so the German names start haunting me again :-( and I do not want to reconfigure my ipod every time I start Characters….

What would be great, is a desktop version of the app to run that I could sit on my side monitor. Also I looked to see if a friends NEW char was on and it was not there is that because he created it 3 days ago or does it update pretty fast?

Warcraft Characters looks like an amazing program, I am fairly new to WoW and have a few Characters, however, my characters in your program will not update… I know it won’t update live…. I am talking about a week now and my Characters still won’t update. I wasn’t sure if it was because of the release of WoWs latest patch or not.
When I click on the “Update” button it hangs on “Updating…”
    Please help.
    Many Thanks,

Doesn’t work anymore(keeps searching),I’m using FW 2.2.I think it’s because the Armory of Blizzard is updated.

I love your program!! With the new expansion, I am able to keep track of my friends’ levels and see when they are gonna beat me to 80!

Since the release of Wrath, the reputation tab no longer works. This may have something to do with the fact Blizzard change how the reputation looks in the armory.

Also, I would like to see achievements added to the program.

Thanks for a great program! Keep up the great work!

The last update was on August 18th. We’re more than three months later now and I see no notes, no reactions etc. from the developer. I heard and read many complaints about people not being able to update their characters anymore and the items-screen doesn’t work at all anymore.

If this application is dead, then it would be proper for the developer to leave a note on this site that this is the case, or else a small note that he’s working on it, but due to heavy workload..blabla

This is exactly why I don’t particularly like “free” applications; maintenance and support is mostly not in place. May I suggest to put this app on the Store for $1 and start working on it again? I’d be the first to pay for it, because the concept is good and I have been using it many times.

I like to check the characters I’m playing with (in parties or raids) so that I have an idea about what to expect from them during the fight. This program provides excellent information about anything you would like to know about a character.

If it only would work ..

Correction : obviously, the main page on this website contains the information I was looking for.

That’s a bit confusing, since the application’s webpage is being directed to http://rudip.com/iphone-apps/characters/

Just go back to http://rudip.com/ and you can read all about the new upcoming release (3.x).

Hi! I love your app and I use it all the time while I’m playing to check other players’ stats before grouping them. In an offline mode, it would be great to add the “Find better” tool that’s available in the armory: this way, I could check out the new stuff to target while riding back from work ;-)

I’m thinking about a char as ‘%’ or ‘*’ whose can replace any char like other searching services (db2, etc..). Is it possible ?

I was looking for an FAQ section because I can’t find a way to easily add special characters. If your wondering what I’m talking about I mean the (Alt+123) alt key code characters. These are valid characters for WoW and are used. I was wondering if their is a way of getting these characters in the search bar, or offering a partial search option? If their is no way, can we get an easy way to add them in an update?
